Formartine United beat Deveronvale 4-1 last Saturday – but they will need to play a lot better to complete a double, according to Graeme Rodger.
The Pitmedden side welcome the Banffers to North Lodge Park for the second week in a row.
Last Saturday it was in the Highland League Cup, tomorrow it’s in the league.
Although United won 4-1, Rodger reckons they can play far better and thinks they have to if they want to make it a double over Steve Dolan’s team.
The former Vale midfielder said: “It’s always difficult playing the same team twice in a row and I don’t think anyone likes that.
“We had a good result last week but they had a man (Michael Dunn) sent off in the first half and I don’t think the scoreline was really a reflection of the difference between the teams.
“If we want to win this week we’ll have to play a lot better than we did last week because we were quite disappointed with how we played.
“We have a bit of a winning habit going at the moment.
“We haven’t been playing anywhere near our best but we have been grinding out results which is a good habit for us to have.”
Rodger believes Vale will have a point to prove tomorrow as they look to make up for last week’s loss.
He added: “Deveronvale were quite aggrieved last week because I don’t think they felt it was a sending-off and it changed the game.
“So they will be coming out determined to try to get the three points.”
