Formartine United player-manager Paul Lawson described his team as outstanding after they beat Forfar Athletic 1-0 in the Scottish Cup third round.
Jonny Crawford’s first half goal saw off the League One Loons at North Lodge Park and sees the Pitmedden outfit reach the Scottish Cup fourth round for the second year in a row.
Player-boss Lawson said: “I’m delighted. Every player was outstanding for us and they needed to be.
“The conditions weren’t great for pretty football. “But they battled well and we got our goal.
“We didn’t hang on, but we dealt with everything they tried to throw at us. “So full credit to everyone involved.
“We’re delighted to reach the fourth round again for the second year in a row.”
Last season Formartine faced a Premiership team for the first time ever when they played Partick Thistle in the fourth round at Firhill.
Lawson thinks nobody will be keen on facing a Highland League team in the fourth round.
He added: “There are good players in our team and other Highland League teams are the same, so I don’t think any one of lower league teams would want a Highland League team.”
