Cove Rangers boss John Sheran today praised their League Cup semi goal hero Jason Brown.
The full-back, who is on loan to Cove from Premiership side Inverness Caley Thistle, nodded home in extra-time as they won 1-0 away to holders Brora.
It was Brown’s first goal for Cove.
Sheran said: “We are all really pleased for Jason.
“It’s a reward for all the hard work he has put in since Caley agreed to let him join us.
“It was a big ask stepping up from playing Development League football to appearing in a league as competitive as this.
“Jason has taken it all in his stride, though, and become a first choice in the team on merit.
“It’s great that he now has the chance to play in a final for us.”
Brora beat Cove on penalties at the same stage last season, so they are delighted to have gained revenge.
Sheran said: “It was far from a classic, as is often the case with cup semis.
“But Brora is one of the toughest venues of all to get a win.
“I’m delighted our lads faced up to that challenge and managed to do what was needed.”
The victory came at a cost.
Cove top scorer Mitch Megginson was sent off for receiving two bookings and is now suspended from the final.
Brora’s Zander Sutherland was also red carded.
Buckie Thistle went back to the top of the Highland League when Sam Urquhart scored twice in their 2-1 win at Wick. Cammy Keith’s double helped Keith beat Huntly 4-1.
Gary Harris and Marc Dickson scored two each as Fraserburgh won 5-0 at Rothes.
