Cove Rangers reached the League Two play-off final after a 2-1 defeat to Spartans in the second leg of the semi-final secured a 5-2 aggregate victory.
John Sheran’s team had a 4-0 first leg advantage ahead of the return leg in Edinburgh.
Paul McManus goal was cancelled out by Jamie Dishington and Blair Atkinson as the Highland League champions were beaten 2-1 by the Lowland League winners at Ainslie Park.
The Aberdeen side will take on Cowdenbeath at Harlaw Park on Saturday before the return at Central Park seven days later.
In the first period the Aberdeen side created the better chances with Spartans keeper Blair Carswell in fine form.
Mitch Megginson turned two defenders and unleashed an effort from 16 yards that the goalie did well to keep out.
On the half hour Harry Milne went on a marauding run and shot narrowly over, Jamie Masson was well-saved by Carswell soon after.
Just before the interval Megginson’s back-heel teed up Milne, but Carswell saved with his legs.
After the break Cove were first to threaten when Megginson’s low strike from 20 yards was tipped onto the post by Carswell.
The keeper made another great save just after the hour to deny McManus from point-blank range.
On 67 minutes Cove got the goal they deserved when Alan Redford’s long ball was missed by Adam Corbett and McManus was clinical with his finish from the edge of the box.
With 11 minutes to play Spartans got a consolation when sub Scott Maxwell crossed from the right was headed in by Dishington.
With four minutes left the hosts were ahead on the night when sub Jason Stevens’ long range strike was pushed out by Stuart McKenzie and Atkinson knocked home the rebound.
