After a great run in the Scottish Cup last season John Sheran says Cove Rangers’ new ground gives them another incentive to do it again.
The Highland League champions kick off their cup campaign against Scottish Junior Cup holders Auchinleck Talbot at the Balmoral Stadium on Saturday.
Last term, Cove reached the fifth round of the tournament where they faced Championship side Falkirk.
That was a great occasion for the Granite City team, but with the Balmoral Stadium still under construction the tie was played at Inverurie’s Harlaw Park.
Now they are in their new ground, Sheran, pictured, is keen to try to deliver glamour ties at the new venue.
The Cove boss said: “We know we’ve got a fantastic set-up and everybody in the background has created a fantastic place for us to go and play our games.
“That just adds to the excitement for us. There will be a big crowd and we know they’ve got a few hundred travelling which will add to the atmosphere.
“Everybody likes to be involved in these games with a good crowd.
“We’ve never played a Junior team from that area before so all of those things are new and good for everybody connected with the club.
“The Scottish Cup is always a special tournament for players and everybody at clubs to be involved in.
“We had a good run last year which was a great experience for everybody.
“We don’t normally get that far in the competition so it’s just whetted everybody’s appetite to do it again. But we have a tough game in the second round.”
