Cove Rangers this afternoon revealed they have secured “significant sponsorship arrangement” for the naming rights to their new stadium at Calder Park.
Aberdeen firm Balmoral Group have signed a deal with the Highland League champions that will see the stadium carry their name when it is completed by the summer of 2017.
Cove Rangers chairman Keith Moorhouse confirmed the new £5 million arena, which is currently under construction, will be known as The Balmoral Stadium.
Moorhouse broke the news to guests at their annual fund raising lunch at the Marcliffe Hotel, Pitfodels, where former England striker Alan Shearer was guest speaker.
Cove believe the backing from Balmoral Group , an oil related business launched in 1980 by Jim Milne, will help them build a stadium good enough to allow them to make the step up to the Scottish Professional Football League if that opportunity arises in the future.
Moorhouse said: “It’s a massive boost for us.
“We would like to thank Jim Milne and his team at Balmoral Group for committing to Cove.
“Our club is going to prosper thanks to this significant sponsorship arrangement.”
Balmoral Group chairman and managing director Milne said: “As a local company proud of its roots in the south of Aberdeen city we are delighted to become associated with Cove Rangers by sponsoring their new stadium.”
