The arrangements for the final of the Evening Express Aberdeenshire Cup have been announced.
The competition’s showpiece, which will be contested by Cove Rangers and Banks o’ Dee, is to be played at Inverurie’s Harlaw Park next Friday October 6, with kick-off at 8pm.
Staging the final on Friday night is a break from tradition.
But Aberdeenshire and District FA (ADFA) secretary Brian Christie hopes it will give the Shire Cup greater exposure and allow more fans to attend the game.
He said: “We’ve spoken about this in the past. By playing on a Saturday you are competing against Aberdeen who are at home and there is a full Highland League card.
“Having the game on Friday gives it more exposure and more and more clubs are looking at trying to play games on a Friday night.
“It’s about trying to get as many people to the game as possible.
“Friday night is a good spot in the week because normally on a Friday night you are not competing against other games either in the area or on television.”
