Get ready to toast the New Year with Dons legend Joe Harper’s own brand of whisky, vodka and gin.
Club record scorer Joe says he’s delighted to have bottles of the spirits named in his honour.
The brainchild of Martin Angus, who runs Gallery 121 in the city, the spirits have been bottled by the Glen Catrine Bond in Ayrshire.
The labels carry a painting of the iconic image of Joe on his knees celebrating one of the 205 goals he scored during his two spells with the Dons.
The rear of the bottles contain the words of the “He drinks all the whisky and Newcastle Brown” song the Red Army used to belt out at Pittodrie when Joe played. Joe, now a columnist for the Evening Express and Dons match day ambassador, said: “I was really chuffed when I was approached for permission to put my name to the bottles of spirits.
“I’m a gin man so will definitely be having a wee nip of that over the festive season.”
Joe will be in the concourse of the Richard Donald Stand tomorrow to sign bottles when they go on sale ahead of the league clash with Motherwell.
They are priced at £35 each or £100 for all three. Joe will also be visiting various pubs in the city helping to sell the bottles.
