There was an unexpected treat for a group of Dons kids during their Easter weekend visit to Holland.
Manchester United and England star Ashley Young took time out to say hello to the Pittodrie youngsters.
The children, who play for Aberdeen’s Under-10 side, were competing in a youth tournament in Landsmeer.
Young was among the number of United players not on international duty given time off by manager Louis van Gaal.
He chose to also go to the north of Holland to watch his son play for Arsenal’s U10 side in the tournament.
Dons legend Neil Simpson, now head of the club’s youth academy, said: “It was great for the youngsters to get the chance to meet Young. He was happy to chat to them and pose for a few pictures.”
They finished 10th out of the 24 top sides who featured.
The Dons kids took on youngsters from Dutch sides Feyenoord and Sparta Rotterdam, Standard Liege (Belgium) as well as Scottish rivals Rangers.
