DEREK McInnes today insisted loan signing Josh Parker’s skill and scintillating pace will excite the Red Army.
The 24-year-old attacker has signed on loan at Pittodrie until January from former European Cup winners Red Star Belgrade.
Parker secured his move to the Serbian giants on the back of a successful spell with Slovenian top flight outfit Domzale.
McInnes has been a long time admirer of the Antigua and Barbuda skipper and previously tried to land him from QPR while boss at St Johnstone.
With Parker falling out of the starting line-up at Red Star, McInnes moved to finally get his man and complete his business for the summer transfer window.
And he challenged Parker to light up the Premiership.
He said: “Josh is a player who can excite the Aberdeen supporters.
“He is a talented, and is here at Aberdeen to show everyone what he has got. Josh has real ability, good feet and a knowledge of the game.
“He has exceptional pace and the speed which drew me to Josh when he was only 18 is still there.
“Josh can play as a centre-forward or on either side, so gives us options.
“When he was a youngster I tried to take him to St Johnstone from QPR.
“He had so much potential and there was a lot expected of him.
“Josh’s career didn’t take off the way many expected but the last 18 months have been a lot better and we feel we got him at the right time.”
“His career is going the right way and that is why we took the decision to bring him here.”
