PITTODRIE assistant Tony Docherty today claimed Aberdeen will only add winners and fighters during transfer windows.
Docherty refused to rule out strengthening during the upcoming January window but insisted the Dons will not add players for the sake of numbers.
As well as meeting the club’s criteria for talent and skill, any new additions must also have a hunger and will to win.
Docherty said: “You can never stand still and we are always looking at ways we can improve which is also the case in terms of player recruitment.
“We have a strong squad at the moment and will analyse where we are but any additions would have to be the right ones.
“We cannot just bring players in for the sake of it.
“They have to complement what we already have, and strengthen the squad.
“Any new addition would have to be the right type of player who brings something to the dressing room as well.
“When you are looking to sign someone it is not just the technical ability of a player, you have to look at everything.
“The type of player we look to bring to Aberdeen is one that expects to win and get the better of the other opponent.
“He has to have that same philosophy and mentality we have.
“If you fill a dressing room with players like that, then you develop a winning mentality which is what we are trying to develop.
“Over the last couple of years we have had that.”
