Former Aberdeen defender Kevin McNaughton has joined Inverness CT on trial after leaving Wigan Athletic.
The popular full-back started his career with Aberdeen, playing for the club between 1999 and 2006 before joining Cardiff City.
McNaughton appeared nearly 300 times for the Welsh club before leaving last summer to sign for Wigan on a one-year deal.
But the 33-year-old only played three times for the Latics, all defeats last August, and was released earlier this summer.
McNaughton came through the Pittodrie youth setup and made more than 200 appearances for the Dons.
After 10 years in England, the four-time Scotland international wants to play north of the border and will train with Inverness.
Able to play anywhere along the back line or in defensive midfield, he will be looking to secure a deal with Richie Foran’s outfit to prolong his 17-year professional career.
McNaughton made such an impact at Cardiff that the club are to give him a testimonial this year, even after his departure in 2015 and a pair of loan spells with Bolton.
