Adam Rooney has completed his move from Aberdeen to Salford City for an undisclosed fee, the clubs have announced.
The striker had scored 88 goals for the Dons since signing in January 2014, and was the first Red since Joe Harper to score more than 20 goals in three consecutive campaigns.
He found his minutes on the pitch reduced last season with the arrival of Stevie May and Sam Cosgrove.
A Salford spokesman said: “Salford City agreed an undisclosed fee with Aberdeen to bring Adam Rooney to the Peninsula Stadium.
“It’s a fantastic signing and further indication, if any was needed, that the Ammies mean business yet again.
“We’d like to extend a warm welcome to Adam as the club enters yet another exciting chapter, this time in the National League.”
Dons boss Derek McInnes said: “We wish Adam all the very best with his new venture and it is always with a heavy heart when you lose a good player who is also a really good person.
“Since I signed Adam four and a half years ago, he has given us nothing but good value and has been a fantastic boy to work with.”
