Aberdeen’s League Cup semi-final with Rangers is set to be played on Sunday, October 28.
The weekend of October 27-28 had been set aside for the two cup semi-finals.
But with the Gers playing Spartak Moscow and Celtic facing RB Leipzeg on Thursday, October 25 the SPFL is planning to stage both semis on Sunday, October 28 rather than ask either the Hoops of the Govan team to play just 48 hours after their European game.
The venues for Aberdeen v Rangers and Hearts v Celtic have yet to be confirmed, but it appears one will be played at Hampden with the other at Murrayfield.
Police are unlikely to allow both matches to be staged in Glasgow on the same day which leaves Murrayfield as the only other stadium capable of coping with the size of the crowd.
