Ugandan international midfielder Khalid Aucho was today set to arrive in Aberdeen for a trial.
The 22-year-old is a free agent having been left Kenyan top flight side Gor Mahia.
Capped 17 times Aucho and his agent initially claimed he was set to come to Scotland for a trial at Rangers.
He later did a U-turn and insisted he would fly in to the Granite City.
And Dons boss Derek McInnes, who is set to fly with the team to Latvia later today, confirmed he will be given the chance to earn a deal.
Aucho could play for the Dons Under-20 side in their friendly against Arbroath at Gayfield Park on Saturday.
McInnes said: “ He is due in today and the plan is for him to train with the U20 squad on Friday.
“We will assess whether he is ready to take part in the game on Saturday.”
