Dons target Shaun Maloney is set to decide where his future lies in the next 24 hours.
Hull City player Maloney has been offered a one-year contract to stay in Yorkshire, but Aberdeen have tabled a two-year deal in the hope of luring him back to the city where he was raised.
Sources in Hull suggest that new Tigers manager Leonid Slutsky is keen to keep Scotland international Maloney as they attempt to gain promotion back to English Premier League this season.
While the Dons can’t compete with Championship wages, manager Derek McInnes hopes that the offer of a longer contract and the guarantee of regular football will tempt the former Celtic and Aston Villa man back north of the border.
Maloney has been limited to just 19 appearances in the last two seasons for Hull and McInnes has identified him as a key target as he tries to find replacements for influential attackers Jonny Hayes and Niall McGinn who have left this summer.
