Aberdeen today received a huge boost with the news skipper Ryan Jack is closing in on a return from surgery.
The 24-year-old is recovering from a knee operation and last featured for the Dons in the 0-0 draw against Hearts on August 13.
Dons boss Derek McInnes this afternoon confirmed it is hoped Jack will return soon after the imminent international break.
Aberdeen travel to Kilmarnock on Saturday on the back of a three game winning streak.
McInnes said: “There is a programme for Ryan to work towards and he is on schedule with that.
“He has not had any setbacks and is working hard and doing well
“Hopefully that remains the case and I think Ryan will not be too far away once we come out of the international break.
“It will be absolutely brilliant to get Ryan back.
“Although we have had good results and show decent form, for me we are always a better team when Ryan is in it.”
Jack and centre-back Scott McKenna are the only injury absentees for the trip to Rugby Park.
