Aberdeen have not given up hope of signing versatile defender – midfielder Anthony O’Connor on a new contract.
The Pittodrie club are locked in talks with the former Republic of Ireland U21 international who is set to go out of contract this summer.
Dons boss Derek McInnes had attempted earlier in the season to get O’Connor to sign a new deal but as the 25-year-old stalled on making a decision the Reds were set to move on.
However Aberdeen could yet resign O’Connor who produced a superb performance with vital blocks in the 1-0 defeat of Celtic at Parkhead.
Meanwhile Aberdeen confirmed keeper Danny Rogers has signed a two-year contract extension.
As Rogers commits his future to the club the Dons confirmed World Cup bound Icelandic international Kari Arnason, striker Nicky Maynard and full-back Daniel Harvie have all left the club.
The loan players – Greg Stewart (Birmingham), Ryan Christie (Celtic), Dominic Ball (Rotherham United), Chidiebere Nwakali (Manchester City), Freddie Woodman (Newcastle United) and Kenny McLean (Norwich City) have all returned to their parent clubs.
Manager Derek McInnes said: “I’d like to thank all the players, including those who were on loan, for their contribution during their time here. We wish them all the very best for the future.
“I’m delighted that Danny sees his future development at Aberdeen and he’s very much part of my future plans.”
