Dons stopper Aaron Lennox, on loan at Raith Rovers, has undergone surgery after sustaining serious injuries.
The Australian collided with a Dundee United player in a game at St Andrews, taking a boot to the face.
The kick left Lennox with a fractured jaw and two broken bones in his hand.
The 23-year-old had surgery on his jaw last night but will also need dental reconstruction work.
It is unclear how long the stopper will be out for.
The keeper signed for the Dons last January and made one appearance last season, starting in the 4-0 home defeat to Ross County.
Lennox has already suffered from a torn hamstring during his time with Raith.
But he has emerged as a popular player at the club, featuring twice this season so far.
