If there’s one place you could probably do without your phone spontaneously bursting into flames, it’s on board a flight. But for poor unsuspecting student Anna Crail, this became an unfortunate reality at 3,000 feet.
The 19-year-old was chilling out on an Alaska Airlines flight to Hawaii where she was looking forward to a relaxing Spring Break getaway, when her phone burst into flames before her eyes.
legit saw my life flash before my eyes tonight when my phone burst into flames midflight and caught the plane on fire

Anna was watching a film on her device before it burst into flames.
She told KOMO-TV: “All of the sudden there was like eight-inch flames coming out of my phone. And I flipped it off onto the ground and it got under someone’s seat, and the flames were just getting higher and a bunch of people stood up.
“When it started I thought we were going down, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, there’s a fire on the plane’.”

Thankfully the Air Alaska crew managed to extinguish the flames before they could spread. Nobody was injured and the flight continued to Honolulu.
ABC News reported that the FAA and Apple are both investigating the incident.
Luckily the incident has come with a silver lining for Anna – the airline offered to give her a little more time in the sun for her troubles.
thank you so much @AlaskaAir for extending our vacation after everything that's happened!!!
