Nintendo will give the world a first look at its new console later when a “preview trailer” is posted to announce its much-rumoured NX console.
Still just a codename, the Japanese gaming giant confirmed the existence of the device earlier this year, but has not yet offered any details into the specs or price of the NX – if that is even the final name for the console. What we do know is that it is due to launch in March next year.
“Come back to nintendo.co.uk at 16:00 CEST (3pm UK time) for a first look at Nintendo’s next gaming platform, codenamed NX”, the gaming firm said in a post to its website.
“This preview trailer will serve as Nintendo’s preliminary announcement of information regarding the platform.”
Rumours on the set-up of the new console have been rife, with suggestions it is likely to be a handheld device and a successor to the Wii U. However, some are holding out for a system to rival that of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Indeed, the front page of Nintendo.com in the US references a “home gaming system”, which could suggest more of a console than an a handheld device.
The three-minute preview trailer should reveal all – that’s what fans are hoping for anyway.
