The newly discovered species, found near the southern coast of Western Australia, is vying for the title of cutest spider in the world.
The Maratus personatus, or the masked peacock spider, was recently captured on camera doing an intricate mating dance.
The arachnid, with its deep blue eyes, is only a few millimeters in length, and its semaphore style dance and overall soft furry appearance has led to it being dubbed the cutest spider in the world.
A similar species, the brightly coloured coastal peacock spider produces and equally impressive mating dance.
