A dino-mite event is to roar into action in the north-east.
Aberdeen events company Party Box is to hold a family-friendly dinosaur hunt in the forest on the Crathes Castle estate.
The event, which will be held in August, has been organised by Shona Krugel and her husband Chris.
Chris said: “It is going to be a dinosaur forest hunt and, as far as we are aware, it will be the biggest dinosaur event ever to take place in Aberdeenshire.
“Each person who takes part will be given a map and instructions and sent out on the hunt.
“It will include full-on dinosaur models, dinosaur nest with large dino eggs and dinosaur bones.”
As well as the hunt, attendees will take part in a fossil dig and there will be a fossil chipping station, bouncy castle and slides, obstacle course, face painting and a 3D dinosaur puzzle.
The idea behind the event all began with a four-metre-long T-Rex that Party Box bought.
Chris said: “It all began when we bought this enormous T-Rex.
“It was actually an accident – we hadn’t realised how big it would be. But it proved to be a huge hit at all the events we did.
“Kids tend to love dinosaurs so we started thinking that we could do something bigger so, really, that T-Rex was the inspiration for the event.
“It’s been two years since we first came up with the idea.
“We’ve been trying to find the perfect venue, which has taken a while, as we needed somewhere with a forest but also had good parking.
“Crathes Castle is the ideal place for it – we’re very pleased to have it for the event.”
Chris said that the event is ideal for all children between the ages of two and 11.
He added: “It’s a real family-friendly day.
“All of the events are very interactive.
“The day has been so long in the making and we’re thrilled to see it all coming together.”
The Dinosaur Forest Hunt will take place on August 25 and 26.
