A student is targeting success this month when he takes to the slopes at the World University Winter Games in Kazakhstan.
Douglas Green, a second year engineering student at RGU, has been selected for Great Britain’s Snowboard Cross team, which will compete at the 28th Winter Universiade in Almaty.
The event, which is organised for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), will feature around 2,000 athletes aged between 17 and 28 from 64 countries and will take place between Sunday, January 29 and Wednesday, February 8.
Douglas, 18, is the first ever Scottish male Snowboard Cross athlete to be selected for the Games and will compete against other snowboarders from countries including Russia, Canada, China and France.
Douglas said: “Being an RGU SPORT Scholar has given me access to strength and conditioning training and also provided me with other services which help me compete to the highest possible standard.”
