Work has been carried out to repair an Aberdeen school walking route which was at times “impassible”.

Concerns had been raised about rain leaving parts of a council-approved walking route to Lochside Academy in Cove almost inaccessible due to flooding.

Wide puddles had regularly appeared on South Loirston Road with the water covering the entire span of the path.

Stewart Milne Homes, which built a nearby housing development, agreed to carry out work on a “goodwill basis” to reinstate the ground topography to its original state.

Gale Beattie, who heads up planning at the local authority, told councillors the work has now been carried out.

She said: “An officer went out last Thursday to look at the impact that has had and that has been successful in allowing the road to be passable.”

A drainage pipe has also been installed at the low point to allow water to drain to an adjacent field.
