WORK has started on a multi-million pound office development.
The first phase of work for the £65 million Silver Fin project will involve the creation of an underground car park to serve the 132,000sq ft Union Street development.
The four floors of underground parking are scheduled to take between six and nine months to build, and will be capable of holding 133 vehicles, 19 motorcycles and 54 bicycles.
Access to the car park will be from Justice Mill Lane.
Once it has been constructed, building work on the main nine-storey building, carried out by Sir Robert McAlpine, will follow.
Architectural features of the block will include large aluminum silver fins – giving the building its name – which are meant to catch the light for all to see and instantly recognise.
