A group behind an Aberdeen forest trail is celebrating its official opening with a family-friendly event.
After Cove Woodland Trust secured major funds from the public for the 16 acres of land back in March, the group is now set to commemorate the ownership.
The event will be opened by Lord Provost Barney Crockett on Saturday August 4 and the Cove community is being encouraged to turn out to celebrate.
The purchase of the land came about when a local farmer offered it to the charity group in an effort to protect the area from building and conserve it as a natural park for recreational use.
The trust aimed to raise £10,000 to purchase the area near Cove Crescent.
More than £13,000 was raised in the space of just a month with £2,000 coming from Aberdeen City Council.
After an online poll, the public voted for the forest to be named the Cove Community Woodland.
Guests at the August 4 grand opening can look forward to BBQ, pony rides and stalls.
The free event will take place from 2 until 5pm.
