A woman was taken to hospital following a head-on collision between two cars on a north-east road.
The incident happened on the A920, at Riverside Road in Ellon, at around 4.30pm on Saturday.
Emergency services were called to attend the crash, which involved a Fiat 500 and a Ford S-Max.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “It was a head-on collision between two vehicles.
“Initially there was a female trapped in a Fiat 500 but she was freed by the fire service.
“She was taken to hospital with two broken ankles.”
The driver of the other car, the Ford S-Max, is believed to have no injuries.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman added: “We got the call at 4.37pm to attend, from the ambulance service.
“We assisted the ambulance service in releasing a female from a car.
“We had small cutting gear in use, and had two appliances on the scene.”
The Scottish Ambulance Service was also on scene, and transported the woman to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
The road was closed while the incident was dealt with by the emergency services and the vehicles were recovered.
