A woman has died following a crash on a north-east road.
The incident, which involved two-vehicles, occurred at around 9.50pm yesterday on the A952 north of Mintlaw.
Today police said one woman died in the crash, with four others taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Police Scotland attended a road traffic collision on the A952 at Mintlaw on August 23 2018 at approximately 9.50pm.
“Unfortunately, one person was confirmed as a fatality and four others were conveyed to hospital where they were treated for injuries.”
The spokeswoman said the road opened early today.
She added: “No further details are being released at this time until family members have been made aware of the circumstances.”
Following the crash, Police Scotland urged motorists to stay away from the area, which was closed with officers saying it was likely to be for some time.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: “We received the call at 9.43pm.
“We sent three appliances, which is 17 firefighters.
“We released four casualties in total from the vehicles.
“We used hydraulic cutting gear, small gear and lighting.”
