Witness appeal after motorcyclist seriously hurt in crash with tractor

An appeal for witnesses has been launched following a serious crash on a North-east road today.

A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a collision with a tractor on the A947, Fyvie to Oldmeldrum road, shortly after 10.30am this morning.

The 50-year-old male rider of a black Suzuki motorbike was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

The driver of the tractor, which was towing a blue trailer, was not injured.

Police have said the stretch of road was shut for six hours.

Sergeant Colin Matheson of the road policing department said: “We have already spoken to several witnesses, however, I would like to ask anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken with us to please get in touch by calling 101 quoting incident number 1401 of February 24.”
