Theatre fans are set to go crazy for two smash-hit shows when they arrive in Aberdeen.
Aberdeen Performing Arts (APA) has announced the addition of musicals Crazy For You – starring Strictly Come Dancing winner Tom Chambers – and feel-good 1980s drama Flashdance as part of its new season line-up.
The company, which runs venues including His Majesty’s Theatre, The Music Hall and The Lemon Tree, has secured the two shows alongside an array of other performances.
The Gruffalo’s Child, The Ultimate Eagles, The Simon and Garfunkel Story, Eugine Onegin and Scottish Opera’s autumn show La Traviata have also been added to the already full calendar of events.
Jane Spiers, chief executive of APA, said: “We aim for high quality and a wide range in our programme and I’m particularly thrilled by what we have on offer in our new season brochure.
“We’ve got fantastic musicals, two huge nights of rock ‘n’ roll, family shows and we’re delighted to have Scottish Opera’s acclaimed production of La Traviata – and that’s just our ‘new to season’ shows.
“Already on sale we have a new show by Aberdeen’s own Lyric Musical Society, celebrating its 65th anniversary with a wonderful production of Anything Goes, and a host of other great musicals including MAMMA MIA! and Sister Act.
“The mesmerising The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time will make a very welcome return to us and I’m also excited about Hedda Gabler, which received rave reviews in a sold-out run at the National Theatre.”
The highly-anticipated Flashdance will have audiences dancing in the aisles to some of the musical’s most famous songs when it arrives in Aberdeen from June 4 to June 9 next year. The cast is to be announced later in the year.
Crazy For You, which comes to HMT in March 2018, is the ultimate feel-good romantic comedy musical, and family show, while The Gruffalo’s Child will take audiences on a magical journey from October 19-21 this year.
