Police investigating after lorries were stolen from an Aberdeen industrial estate before being torched have said a burnt-out car found on the same day was linked to the thefts.
Two lorries were stolen from the West Tullos Industrial Estate in Aberdeen on Monday.
The rigid vehicles were taken from M&H Logistics, Craigshaw Road, at around midnight.
Emergency services were then alerted to the HGVs on fire at a lay-by on the A97 Lumsden to Huntly road near Gartly.
Inquiries suggested furniture and alcohol were in the lorries and were later taken out of the vehicles before they were torched.
Later that afternoon, a silver Renault Megane car was found burnt out in the Hazlehead area.
Detective Inspector Stuart McAdam said: “This incident appears to have been a well-organised crime with a significant value of property stolen and damaged.
“I would urge anyone who saw a silver Renault Megane motor car in the Hazlehead area around lunchtime on Monday to contact the police as soon as possible.
“Please contact 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 if you wish to remain anonymous.”
A police spokeswoman confirmed the incidents were linked.
