VACANCIES for primary school teachers have increased since a major summit was held to resolve the staffing crisis.
An education summit took place in September, with 44 primary positions unfilled in Aberdeen at the time.
But this figure has now risen to a total of 54 vacancies.
However, open positions for head teachers and secondary school posts have fallen.
The summit aimed to find new ways of attracting teachers to the positions.
There are currently two head teacher vacancies – one in a primary and one in a secondary school, as well as nine secondary school teacher posts unfilled in Aberdeen.
Aberdeenshire Council has 15 primary posts, 11 secondary posts and one head teacher position still vacant.
