A taxi price hike could be on the cards for revellers in Aberdeen on Friday and Saturday nights, the Evening Express can reveal today.
Unite Union representing taxi drivers has recommended increasing the cost of taxis between midnight on a Friday to 5am on a Saturday, and midnight on Saturday to 5am on Sunday.
The proposals ask for the start fare during these times to be hiked up from £3.40 to £4.40.
It comes just days after a new report, to go before the city council’s licensing committee, asked councillors to agree to give non-airport taxi drivers the ability to increase the £1 drop-off surcharge to £2.
The plans follow the decision by Aberdeen International Airport to double the drop-off fee earlier this year from £1 to £2 for 15 minutes waiting time.
