A MAJOR tug of war championship is to be held in the North-east.
Organisers behind this year’s Stonehaven Highland Games today revealed the National Outdoor Championships will be held in the town as part of the event this weekend.
Spectators from around the world, including the US, Canada, Asia and Europe, are expected to visit Stonehaven for the two days of events.
Around six different pipe bands will also turn out for the events, which take place on Saturday and Sunday.
A mini-games will be held on Saturday from 1pm until 3pm, with an inter-schools competition planned, featuring light events such as tossing the caber.
The main games will run from 11am until 5pm.
Both will take place at the Mackie Academy playing fields.
