A BUS driver has scooped a national transport award for making a little boy’s dream come true.
Craig Duthie was presented with the Frontline Employee of the Year title at the Scottish Transport Awards.
The judging panel praised the First Aberdeen bus driver for dedicating a day off to arranging a birthday surprise for a 12-year-old bus super-fan.
Craig arranged for Logan Coleman to go on a 20-mile round trip on a bus named Logan’s Run.
He organised to have a ‘bendy bus’ from First Aberdeen’s fleet waiting, cleaned and ready for Logan himself to drive through the depot’s giant ‘bus wash’ machine – under Craig’s careful instruction – before driving the whole family back home again.
Logan’s mum Louise described it as a “dream day” for her son.
Craig said: “Being nominated was a big enough surprise, never mind winning.
“It was unexpected, all I wanted to do was make sure Logan had a birthday to remember, it’s what anyone would do really.”
