The wee calf that garnered lots of attention at this year’s Taste of Grampian finally has a name – thanks to a toddler from Aberdeenshire.

Owner Craig Finnie took the animal to the annual food and drink celebration at Thainstone in Inverurie last month and asked members of the public to suggest a name for it.

More 300 people took part in the poll – with Baby Moo coming out on top.

The winning name was put forward by Riley Chapman, a two-year-old from Rothienorman.

His mother Nicolle, who took the youngster to the event, said it was their first time at Taste of Grampian and they “really enjoyed it”.

“It was really busy but there was lots to see, taste and do. We would definitely go back next year,” she added.

Mrs Chapman, who recently gave birth to another son, said it was the arrival of a sibling that led to Riley’s chosen name for the calf.

She said: “With the new baby coming along, Riley started to call everything ‘baby’ and because a cow says ‘moo’ he called it Baby Moo”.
