The curtain has gone up on three blockbuster musicals heading for Aberdeen.
A new tour of Legally Blonde; a musical stage version of TV hit Fat Friends and Son Of A Preacher Man, featuring the songs of Dusty Springfield, are set to delight audiences at His Majesty’s next year.
And in the mix will be a one night stand by popular comedian Milton Jones.
Announcing the new shows, Jane Spiers, chief executive of Aberdeen Performing Arts, said: “These are four excellent productions that I’m particularly excited to be welcoming to our theatre next year.”
Legally Blonde, based on the popular movie, arrives from May 1 to 5 and will star EastEnders favourite Rita Simmons, X Factor and Eurovision star Lucie Jones and Bill Ward of Corrie and Emmerdale Fame.
Fat Friends is a new musical based on the hit TV series and will star West End favourite Jodie Prenger and Scottish legend Elaine C Smith. It will run from May 21 to 26 and promises to be a feel food night out.
Fantastic songs from Dusty Springfield feature in Son Of A Preacher Man, a heart-warming story written by Warner Brown and directed and choreographed by Craig Revel Horwood. It will be at HMT from June 19 to 23.
Craig said: “I am delighted to bring to life for the first time this wonderful story with soulful songs from the legendary Dusty Springfield’s iconic music catalogue.
“I hope audiences at His Majesty’s will come to love this uplifting musical as much as I do.”
Meanwhile, Milton Jones Is Out There will be at HMT on February 2.
Jane said: “Legally Blonde brings the ultimate in feel-good story while Fat Friends promises to be full of humour and heart and we are thrilled to have Elaine C Smith back with us.
“Son Of A Preacher Man features some of Dusty’s greatest hits and is definitely one for the diary.”
Tickets for the new shows go on sale to APA Friends on Friday and to the general public from Tuesday.
