An Aberdeen man has admitted breaking into sheds and stealing bicycles to “fit in”.
Kieran Sim, 18, stole five bikes over February 27 and 28 2017 from addresses in Aberdeen.
Yesterday at Aberdeen Sheriff Court he pled guilty to the offences, prompting Sheriff Sukhwinder Gill to ask: “Has he got some kind of fetish for pedal cycles?”
The teen broke into a shed on Queen’s Road and stole two bikes on February 27.
And the following day the youngster stole another from Albury View and broke into a shed at Bloomfield Court and stole two more.
Defence agent Christopher Maitland said: “It was a spree over a couple of days.”
He said his client had acted with two other males and, when asked by police why he stole the bikes, told them: “I don’t know. I just wanted to fit in. I just met those two boys a couple of days before.”
Sheriff Gill deferred sentence on Sim, of Rosehill Court, Aberdeen, who also admitted two failures to appear at court, until next month for reports.
