A BIG screen version of the classic novel Sunset Song – partly filmed in the North-east – has had its UK premiere.
The novel was written by Lewis Grassic Gibbon and focuses on rural life in the Mearns.
The film stars supermodel Agyness Deyn as poverty stricken Chris Guthrie, with Peterhead’s own Peter Mullan co-starring as her father.
Directed by acclaimed film-maker Terence Davies, Sunset Song has its UK premiere at the London Film Festival.
Published in 1932, Sunset Song follows a farming family struggling to make a living in the North-east leading up to World War 1.
The movie was shot at locations including New Zealand, Luxembourg and Aberdeenshire.
