Pupils at an Aberdeen school were treated to a talk by a leading martial arts teacher as part of their studies on Japan.
Ronnie Watt OBE is a 9th dan black belt in karate, and is one of the few people from outside Japan to be given the country’s Order of the Rising Sun.
He visited Ashley Road Primary in Aberdeen to give a talk to pupils about the country – including a visit last year as part of a north-east delegation to mark the 150th anniversary of the restoration of Japan’s Meiji Emperor.

Ashley Road head teacher Anne Wilkinson said: “Primary 5 have been learning about Japan for a number of weeks so it was great to hear from someone who has not only visited the country numerous times, but who has also forged such positive relationships with some really interesting people.
“We are incredibly grateful to him that he took time to come and spend time with us.”
