A councillor has said he will not be seeking re-election this year – after almost a decade of service.
SNP councillor John Corall has represented Aberdeen City Council’s Ashley/Hazlehead/Queen’s Cross ward since 2012.
Prior to that he served the Midstocket/Rosemount ward after his by-election victory in August 2007.
Cllr Corall said it was now time to let the “younger generation take on driving this city forward”.
He has been vice-convener of the enterprise, planning and infrastructure committee and also held the same position on the council’s housing and environment committees.
Cllr Corall said: “It has been an absolute privilege to have represented two of our city’s wards and to play a part in the running of our city, even if it was during difficult times.”
SNP group leader Stephen Flynn said: “John has been a stalwart of this SNP group for nearly a decade and his counsel and wisdom have been invaluable for myself and John’s other colleagues over the years.”
