VOTING reform has been called for by MPs from across the political spectrum.
MPs from the SNP, Greens, Liberal Democrats, Plaid Cymru and UKIP said First Past the Post (FPTP) should be axed and replaced with a fairer voting system such as Proportional Representation (PR).
Moray MP Angus Robertson, SNP Westminster leader, put his name to a petition of nearly half a million signatures handed in to 10 Downing Street.
He said: “The Westminster system is badly in need of reform.
“The SNP has done well under First Past the Post this time but we have always supported proportional representation and will continue to do so.”
This month’s general election saw the Greens and UKIP win support from five million voters but get just two seats in the House of Commons.
