Six men have been charged in connection with a number of disturbances in a North-east town.
The males, aged between 26 and 32 years old, were due to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court today.
One of the alleged incidents took place in the Mid Street area of Keith at around 4.45pm on Saturday when a male was assaulted, thereafter incidents took place in the Commercial Hotel area and the Cameron Drive/Hay Crescent area of the town.
Sergeant Teresa, from the Buckie/Keith local policing team, said: “Local officers with assistance from the Divisional Alcohol and Violence Reduction Unit made extensive inquiries over the weekend and, as a result, six men are expected to appear in court today.
“Our inquiries are still ongoing and I would urge anyone who may have witnessed these alleged incidents or has information about them to contact police via the 101 telephone number or if they wish to remain anonymous to contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
“I would like to thank the public of Keith for their assistance so far.”
She added: “Police Scotland is committed to tackling violent behaviour that causes alarm in our communities and it is only with the help and cooperation of local residents that we can do so.”
