One the giants of British stage and screen, Sir Ian McKellen, is bringing his solo show to Aberdeen’s Tivoli Theatre.
The acting legend has chosen the Aberdeen venue as one of 80 UK theatres he is visiting to celebrate his 80th birthday.
Profits and his wages from the Ian McKellen On Stage show at The Tivoli on August 14 will go to the theatre and to Aberdeen Youth Music Theatre (AYMT).

He is doing the same for every venue he visits, with the Shakespearean actor suggesting each space spend the money on whatever it needs, “whether it’s painting the dressing rooms or putting in new seats or supporting youth groups”.
The Lord Of The Rings star, who will turn 80 in May, said: “I was last in Aberdeen at His Majesty’s with the National Theatre’s The Cherry Orchard in 1986, this is my first time at The Tivoli.”
He said the show will encompass his wide-ranging career and include anecdotes, acting and audience participation.
