A community was in shock today after a 77-year old died following a two-car crash on a North-east road.
The pensioner died when the blue Rover 75 he was driving was in collision with a silver Renault Megane.
The crash happened on the A98 Buckie to Cullen road at 11.30am yesterday near the junction leading to Findochty.
A passenger and driver of the other vehicle were taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin for treatment.
Sergeant Malcolm Kinross, of the road policing unit North East Division, said: “First of all, I would say that our thoughts are with the friends and family of everyone involved with this tragic incident.
“I would appeal for anyone who was aware of a silver Renault Megane or blue Rover 75, around 11.30am on the A98 between Buckie and Cullen to contact the police on 101.”
The road was closed for a number of hours to allow a collision investigation to take place.
Buckie Councillor Gordon Cowie said: “My heart goes out to the family and friends of everyone involved after this incident.
“We will have to wait on the police investigation into what happened but I would urge anyone who may have seen something to come forward and speak to police.”
