A COMMUNITY was today in shock after a teenager died in a two-car smash on a North-east road.
One of the vehicles involved caught fire after the crash on the A93 Aberdeen to Braemar road.
Four others were taken to hospital in Aberdeen after the incident, which happened west of Kincardine O’Neil, around five miles from Aboyne.
The man, named locally as 18-year-old Jordan Milne, died at the scene of the crash, where floral tributes have been left.
The accident happened shortly after 1am yesterday at the A93’s junction with Pitmurchie Road.
Police, 12 firefighters and three ambulance crews were called to the scene.
Witness, Amy Poor, 29, who lives in the area, said: “It was on its roof and the car was a ball of fire. It was a bit surreal. It is just the family I keep feeling for. It must have gone up in flames within minutes.”
Reverend David Greenwood, who works with Christ Church at Kincardine O’Neil and also St Ternan’s in Banchory, said: “It is very sad. The thoughts of both the community and the church go out to the family of this man.”
