A busy Aberdeen road is to remain closed until close to Christmas, causing more delays.
The C128C Kingswells to Cults road will remain shut until Friday, December 23 – weeks after originally planned, however, residents will still be able to access their properties. The road has been closed since August 19.
The 3,000-home development at Countesswells includes 750 affordable properties, community facilities, a new secondary school and two primary schools phased over 15 years.
The closure by Countesswells Development Limited and Wm Donald is to allow for work to be carried out to develop infrastructure as part of the major scheme.
An extension has been given to restrict traffic on the busy route between its junctions with the C127C Blacktop Road and Kingswells Roundabout. The extension is from 6pm on Sunday until 6pm on Friday, December 23.
A diversion will be in place during the closure, through Countesswells Road, Springfield Road, Queen’s Road or Blacktop Road to Westhill.
A spokeswoman for Countesswells Development Limited and Wm Donald said: “This is a precautionary measure in case we cannot meet the original timescales for completion of the road.
“This is due to unforeseen ground conditions and also having to work in close proximity to existing utilities infrastructure.
“We are fully aware of the inconvenience to local residents and thank them for their continued patience as we progress these major infrastructure works required for the creation of the new town at Countesswells.”
