Residents today told of their shock after police swooped on an Aberdeen block of flats following the discovery of a woman’s body.
Officers from Police Scotland were on the scene at an address on the Beach Boulevard for most of yesterday.
The death of a woman, who is believed to be in her 60s, is being treated as “unexplained” by the force.
A block of tenement flats on the busy Beach Boulevard was cordoned off to allow forensic officers to carry out their investigation.
Officers and forensics spent most of the morning and afternoon in the home investigating.
An incident van was also parked outside the property to allow officers to gather evidence.
Detective Inspector Allen Shaw from Police Scotland said: “Our investigation is at a very early stage and there will be a police presence including a police pod in the area while initial inquiries are carried out.”
One resident, who lives close to the where the woman was found, said: “I woke up just after 8am and saw two police cars outside, about 10 minutes later another five were parked outside then a van came along.”
Another person who was caught up in the incident was Sarah Palmer, who lives in a ground floor flat in the same building.
She said: “It all got started at about 5.45am. We could hear people coming in and out because we’re on the ground floor.
“At first we got really annoyed then we saw an ambulance outside and the police.
“The police did not tell us anything at all about what was happening, they just told us to stay inside.”
The 24-year-old added: “We were told we could not leave and just got out at 11am.”
