A dog has been reunited with his owner after plunging from a cliff at a North-east castle.
A coastguard team was called to Slains Castle in Cruden Bay to rescue the Jack Russell, which fell 40ft onto rocks below.
The incident happened shortly before noon, with the female owner of the dog alerting the police.
It is unknown if the dog sustained any injuries from the fall.
A spokesman for the coastguard said: “The dog has now been recovered following a coastguard operation and reunited with his owner.”
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “We were called to assist with an ongoing incident involving a dog which jumped from the cliff side at Cruden Bay this afternoon.
“The female owner contacted us and we had an officer at the scene.”
